Jobs and Citizen types

Postby Guardsmen122 » Sat Jun 30, 2012 7:39 am

Can we get different types of citizens?

I was thinking that we can have different types of citizens with jobs in the following types.

Citizens: how the people are setup now.
Farmer: Focuses on collecting food
Baker: focuses on baking and cooking all food types
Miner: focuses mining and moving stone, mud, sand, iron, gold, ect.
Craftsmen: Makes finer goods like walls, benches, windows, glass, ect.
Blacksmith: Makes weapons, armor, and tools.

I would expect that citizens would be toggled into this mode in the same way guards are toggled to
guard, patrolmen, and supervisor. Thoughts?

So instead of just having citizens and soldiers, you could have a "make specialist" option with the varying types under it? That seems like a fairly intuitive way to do it, actually.

Yeah, there are a lot of different suggestions for professions, however I rather like this one. It does make more sense, and fits in better with the themes already in Towns. +1 from me.

Also, it ties in with the idea of equipping different proffessionals with different tools/clothing, such as a shovel or hoe and a hat for the farmer, a leather apron for the blacksmith, a pickaxe for the miner etc.

I semi like this thought but.. I think I like the customize jobs better.. (as in we micromanage what every single person dose by setting what tasks they will do)...

that said being able to define a few custom jobs + these as defaults wouldn't be bad either.

micromanage is good for small number of citizens, micromanaging 30/40 + citizens will be too hard on the wrists :P
