I can confirm that this works BUT its only a short term solution. The problem is that townies try to haul some thing that is unavailable to them, or they are trying to put a item that they are holding down, and there is no space (there is space but they insist putting the item on the spot that is not available to them) i had half of my town stuck on a mineshaft becouse they wanted to put iron behind a closed door.

I use locked doors to prevent them from running into rooms filled with mobs that would other wise kill them.

I have no locked doors. I wonder why this keeps happening.

I'd like to see food, sleep and heal become priority orders. This way, within reason, once a citizen needs food, sleep or healing, they will stop their current task and proceed to fill that one.

I say within reason because if they are one square away from say delivering their item to a storage zone, then complete it. Maybe if they are going to complete their task within a certain amount of time, then they will finish it before eating or sleeping.

As for healing, it's really annoying watch a citizen who's mortally wounded, kill their current mob, and then be a hero by diving into a fight with about 5 more. Don't worry, I'll give you a nice grave.

Mine is the oposite, they startted great working very hard, then for no reason they stoped doing everything once i ordered them to cut trees
at 1st i thought it was the priority and having to much orders, so i removed all the orders and set the harvesting, cutting etc on 1. they sit in my bakery and just camping on my food barrels, only move to make a loaf of bread to eat every once in a while.
lol i have lazy bums for vilagers

I've been having the same problem as well. Usually when building a mine shaft a citizen won't stop to eat while it is under construction. They'll place one component then go back to the stockpile for the next and so on. Sometimes if I see they are starving and I destroy the mine shaft before it is completed, they will then go and eat. Other times they will acquire a new task instead and then starve. This needs to be tweaked and I would also add an option to cancel a task by selecting a citizen and then the next available person will assume that specific task, or add an option to just postpone a task so they will go eat or sleep first. Having this happen automatically would be best though as you can't always follow everyone. Edit: Oops! I didn't have 0.45B. I'll have to try it and see if the issue is solved or not.

I have version .46 and they are still starving even though I have an over abundance of food. I'm down to floor 4&5 and I'll see the message that "townie has starved" and it seems their only task is hauling, there are no other orders present other than cook poultry.

It seems, from what I have seen in my recent games, that sometimes Townies do not know proper path ways.

So instead of taking the shortest way for hauling or mining in floor 4+, they run around for what seems a long time in the floor, and they sometimes try to take the same looong way back. I tried shortening ways by mining but it doesn't seem to help. I guess they just like to wander while hauling :D
