Suggestion: Change the forum style.

So far I have loved this game. I actually played the demo, and then immediately pre-ordered it.

I was a bit disappointed on how the forums appeared as they were quite "default" in style.

I actually used to run my own forums and I spent some time "prettying" it up. The link is: Norrathian Raid Alliance (This is not an advertisement. This is an older forum I used to maintain for a game. We no longer use this forum and now it is there only because I haven't pulled it down yet. If you attempt to sign up on these forums, chances are it will be ignored.)

It is the exact same PHPBB3 as this forum. There are tons of free styles at phpBB3Styles.net.

Actually we use the default style because we don't want to mess up with 3rd party ones (that can contain exploits). But we will take a look at this when we have enough time

I realy don't understand all those needs for "fancy", when everyone has different taste. And, when "fancy" is often term for: overpictured and unpractical.

Please, keep it clean and practical. I don't wanna look on some background or colorfull buttons, I am here to read forum. Anything too colorfull, animated etc. is distracting.

I like plain forums as well.. Besides I'd rather you guys use your time making more fun stuff in the game then messing with the forums

Well, if we add some styles it will be configurable using the user "Control panel", so you can choose what style you want.
Anyway, as I said, we will take a look at this in the future

Forum is good but some themes would be good also.

Thing I'd like to see with the forums is a darker background with light text as the bright white and blues really hurt my eyes. I find that I'm always closing my right eye when I view the towns forum just to cut down on the amount of bright light it puts off.

Maybe there are different default styles that adjust only the colors and nothing else, then there wouldn't be exploits in it, it would only be from phpbb the styles that they should use.

To be honest, if it's a "style" it shouldn't have exploits. No PHP should be executed in a theme. I'd have to look at how PHPBB handles themes though. If the forum software allows PHP to be excecuted in themes, then the designers of PHPBB were idiots....

The themes are exactly that. I have extensively edited and updated my themes when I add features, etc. The only PHP I have seen are path variables. Other than that the templates, CSS, and scripts are all strictly for appearance.

They use div classes to place background images and create containers. I actually recreated the theme to use on a portal that leads to the above forums. It required me to do a rewrite of the template files to include specific elements that were not part of the original theme. During this process I never had to touch the original PHP coding.
