I think he means they're showing up in the monster spawn tables three levels before they are supposed to. They're being spawned where level 6 mobs should be, because they're tagged as level 6, but they're really made to be level 8 or 9 monsters.

EDIT: I wonder then, if we just dug PAST that level to the next, if we'd find (slightly) easier mobs? Just wall off your stairs to safely get to the next level.

I do not know about the weretigers but, one werepig attacked my base and was simply massacred by five villagers. 4 of them only with stone hammers, and the other with full iron and an iron mace.

For those who spoke weretigers, I prepare myself a bit before digging deeper.

I left the game running while I went to sleep last night... doing excellent. I had dug down from 3 to 5 to get at a good copper site. Both floors were cleared in the morning. I worked through 6 and 7 easily, as I had 4 heroes in the level 30 range to start with. Cleared 7 with heroes in the low 40s. Townies and heroes all equiped with hobgoblin or better weapons, mostly Direite armor except a couple pieces of snickerite, and a wereboar helm.

I figured that I was good for level 8.

I set my townies to dig a 10 X 10 room to get several miners down incase of creatures... killed about 4 trolls. Suddenly a Weretiger appears and killed 2 of my workers. I still had some digging, and I guess they didn't see thier neighbors get shredded... until they got hit too. Down 7 townies. I wasn't too worried, my 2 elf archers were heading in... they were level 43 and 41. RRRIPP. Down goes the first hero... the second gets hit and goes running... Heading back to the ladder, the Elf passes a second tiger.

The archer makes it to thier room in the tavern, after running half way through town. The Weretigers followed, slaughtering townings as they passed. They ran into both of my other Heros on the way to the tavern.

Total losses were 4 heroes and all 18 of my townies. ( I had 11 last night going to bed, made some rooms while exploring 6 and 7. )

I then realized that I hadn't saved yet today. My last save was from 9/7/01 and I was at 3/10/03 when the 'tigers finished my town off...

*sigh*

Oh well, starting over tomorrow... with more frequest saves

I had a weretiger kill a mage too. I think people could use better advice than hoping to get three of them, and geared at that.

Mages can still die pretty quickly by weretigers, as its a matter of luck. if they turn the tigers to pigs, they win, if they dont, they get massacred.

Now it's just eat, sleep, idle, go afk for 15 minutes (seems one of the posters went afk while he slept LOL) and mouse over the dungeon to see heroes getting nowhere.
If a large seige comes it's very tedious to convert 15-20 people to soldiers, then back to civilians.
I'm waiting for the next patch (again)

I hope for heroes to explore 10x faster or turn off fog of war, at least I will be able to have something to WATCH, in the case of faster heroes, or something to DO, without fog of war.
A good town layout and order chart requires NO INPUT after it's setup and tweaked. All you do is watch heroes reveal a few squares, get hungy/tired, and go to the surface to idle, then repeat x100000000000.
It's a good screensaver, but one of the only game elements was taken out since .42b, which was sending civilians for dungeon battles... again, a good town layout and order chart needs NO PLAYER INPUT.

My town is usually finished and requires no input after about 1 month, all I have to do is add rooms and tweak orders very slightly.
I can't see anything in the dungeon so I have to rely on automatic scouts.

What am I missing?
What am I supposed to do after my town is complete?
Just let the game run while I play something else?

I'm to the the 6th floor and I've gotten plenty of time out of this save already, and I'm only just now finishing my town of only 30 people (which I think is all you really need).. But I hardly look heroes - except when I force equipped them or if it seems like they are in trouble (you can usually tell by the messages..).. and every time I check the dungeon.. it is far more cleared out.. when they finish it I have my townies clean up the floor - then dig to the next..

I have noticed they take about twice as long to clear a hallway dungeon to a cave dungeon.. (though the cave one they leave a lot of corners unchecked). But I guess that has to do with how the cave ones open up easier..

We do need more basics to manage for us to really be the town.. such as Shops..

But I think your mostly missing this is not a dungeon crawler... this is a game where your a town who houses dungeon crawlers.. and so your to focused on the dungeon crawling.. Try spending more time building a town that isn't just efficient for getting to letting heroes dungeon crawl.. and maybe you can find more to do... If not.. or it doesn't interest you I guess waiting for a new patch is the best plan.. eventually we'll get quests and shops to mange and hopefully lots of other things we don't think of..

True.. 36 would give you 6 heroes.. I should up it 6 more.. I always forget that haha.. can have 6 always soldiers to guard the dungeon entrance.. 30 citizens and 6 heroes..

I've yet to see a goblin siege though with 30.. only green slimes, small spiders and large spiders.. I wonder if 36 would make them come..
