Sugggestions (and a small bug)

Postby KasaraEm13 » Wed Apr 18, 2012 12:12 am

I'm sure some of these have been said before, I tried to search, but if they were worded differently than mine, I missed them. If someone could let me know if any of these already have a topic, I'll go to them and add my support there.

Click Townies' Name in the Event List/Ticker to Jump to Them
I miss a lot of action and I can't stop action that I might not want (IE converting a solider to civilian quickly) because I simply can't find the townie I'm looking for. It'd be great if you could click on the townie's name when it pops up in the event list and it would jump the screen to that townie.

Alert Icons on Minimap
When a siege comes, or a fight breaks out, I'd like to be able to see where it is quickly. Sometimes the events are going by so fast, you can't even read them, let alone click anything, so if I knew the area it was happening in, I could quickly scroll over and take a look. Maybe just an exclamation mark or a circle/dot, something to get my attention.

Eat Non-Stored Food First
My townie will take a good minute to go and get a piece of food from across the map to store it, only to turn around and take it back out of the barrel to eat when they get hungry. I'd like it if they'd eat the food still laying around that hasn't been stored yet first, before they'd start dipping into the food stored up. It'd clean up the town and save their time.

Store Closest Things First
Townies will go down, haul, and store things from level 3 before they clean up level 2. Or they'll go across the map to pick up an item to store it when there's 10 of them laying around the town. I'd like to be able to switch that option, so they go for the closest stuff first to better clear out the town's general area. (I swear, I still have some bread laying around the first bakery that was from day 1...)

Change Ground Type (if you have the correct materials)
I have a ton of mud, I can't use it all. I'd like to be able to replace some patches of stone, so I could build farms on that area. If I dug out the stone, then replaced it with mud, that would create dirt in its place. I can create my farm and I got rid of some of my unused resources, win-win. Also would work the others ways, like I'd dig up dirt and replace it with stone to have stone.

A Better Way to Flatten the Ground
I don't care if I have to do it or if I could get my townies to do it, but I would looove a way to flatten a large area of earth at the same time, without clicking multiple times and trying to figure out the highest point of the hill.

Small Bug/Better Menus
Dunno if this has been mentioned before, but on non-full screen... herp derp, how do I delete the cabinet (if I wanted to)? XD

I had this happen to me when I was getting stuff sorted. I had to switch to full screen to get to the delete button.

EDIT1, adding more:
Mass Kill/Butcher Order
For large farms or maybe wanting to focus on one area of the enemies. Having to go through and click each animal for meat en mass gets tiresome.

Create-and-Store in One
Instead of townie A killing cow, dropping steak at nearest free square, and then townie B having to come along later and store it, townie A could just store it in the nearest available barrel/stockpile after they killed the cow. I don't know how well that would work for mining/chopping though. But I'd really like a better way to keep my town cleared.

All great suggestions. I second them all.

AMAZING! I would LOVE this sooooooooooo much. Nothing worse than trying to find a place large enough for a farm.

There is an arrow on the bottom of the menu, you click it to go to the next page. But it is quite annoying, as it puts the mouse in position to scroll the screen. Either make the mouse not scroll while a menu is up, or design a better menu.

Yeah, but it's not on the next page either, it's just cut off.

Compare that to the weapons cabinet.

I'm sure the devs have ideas for better menus though. But a quick fix, give the armor cabinet 3 pages, maybe?

(Sorry for the pictures, does the spoiler code work on this forum?)

Don't worry about posting pictures..

Anyway I think I've seen this issue myself (not sure with what atm..)... but it works fine for me in windowed atm.. Resolution 1024 x 768, whats yours on when it is broken?

They are going to rework the UI so I assume that means menus like these as well... So hopefully it works a lot better (I think that's for the patch after .45 though).

I'm not entirely sure, I am on a laptop though. Is there an easy way to tell your resolution and I'm missing it?

Right click your desktop and go to screen resolution if you have windows - not sure on anything else.. - Then in window mode The game is the same as your computer is.

I'm not sure if raising it will fix the issue or not.. Mine are fine even in the lowest for this monitor.. though like I said I think I seen it before..

If you hold down shift before clicking it lets you drag an area.
You are a primitive human not an insult; a forum game. [Currently dead] Note that this was the first forum game on the towns forum, I'm a trend setter. :D
