Post here your suggestions for future Towns releases

Second Floors

Postby Yaywai » Wed May 02, 2012 4:51 pm

What if we could make an second floor, or an third, or maybe an fourth floor. Just make an staircase on the lower floor, one or two blocks size. I don't know if anyone have already posted this, I have checked the first page of the forum an I didn't see any. I'm sorry if someone already posted this, but it's just an suggestion.

It's been posted several times.. and the devs have replied with (the most recent.. I think):

So if they find a reasonable low resource way to add them.. I suppose they will..

I'm not really convinced having second stories is all that necessary.. It'd be nice though.. for certain things no doubt.. but if it is just a layer above the current surface.. and you don't see it on the surface layer.. I think it'd be kinda pointless.. since I can already just build under it just as easy with the same effect..

The multi levels above ground will be visible (there are various ways to achieve that, graphically speaking), so if we do manage to have it somehow without compromising too much resources, it wont just be another level like the underground ones. that, as you said, would be completely pointless.

What if you actually hid the animals and townies on the ground floor when you sate on the second or third floor?

I think having multiple floor buildings might be a good idea in future versions of the game because, well, the developers have said that our Townies will no longer enjoy living/working underground so much, and seeing how fast a town's population can grow now (which is a good thing, really, I love that !) our towns will either have to spread really far or really high so everyone can have a room to live in and a place to work. Large towns aren't very efficient right now. Maybe they will get better once the Townies start using roads more often and stop trying to fill the first containers you've built and instead fill in those that are closest to them.
