Question about game

Postby opiumskittles » Fri Jun 01, 2012 2:29 am

The search function keeps telling me its not available and being pissy even though I'm obviously logged in.

Is there going to be a way to play this multiplayer or anything? I would buy it in a heartbeat if it did.

Anywho, sorry if its been asked before, but again, search isn't working. And its not in the F.A.Q.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there Opiumskittles(nice name btw. ),
The search function does work, but you can only do a search every 30 seconds. Going to the next page of your results counts as another search. It can make searching a little slow but its a precaution to prevent spammers.

Anyway, on to your question, multiplayer IS a possibility and has been discussed many times already, but only time will tell to see if it actually happens. We've been getting lots of great content so just stay tuned and see. :D

Here is the quote that I found from one of the developers of the game regarding multiplayer:

If they were to add multiplayer it's up for guessing on how it would be implemented at this point anyway. Only time will tell if it's something that they will add to the game.

My personal opinion on multiplayer for Towns is that I believe that truly the amount of players that would be likely to play Towns multiplayer (depending on how they would implement it of course) would likely be rather small and that the time could be better spent to make the single player aspect of the game really shine which I think would likely appeal to more customers. But of course it would depend on how the multiplayer actually were set up to work in Towns. It's always possible that it could be the next best thing since individually wrapped cheese slices.

But from what I know of city building type games, while there's almost always somebody that has asked for multiplayer in the CB game, usually within no time at all, those games who's developers have accommodated those that wanted a multiplayer portion to their game and added it, the multiplayer portion of the game usually dies in no time at all if it even takes off at all. Of course that could be for quite a few reasons such as how those developers interpreted how multiplayer should be in their CB game, how many copies the game actually sold to begin with and numerous other possibilities as well.

Probably best for you to head over to the suggestion forum and look at the topics on multiplayer suggestions and chime in on those topics that you think have merit so that the developers can get an idea for the volume of players of Towns that might actually be interested in a multiplayer portion to the game.

At the moment, the only game that I'm interested in seeing what they do to multiplayer in the CB genre is the Simcity 2013 (as many people are calling it) due out (obviously) in 2013. Not so much because I wish to actually have other players have some sort of influence over any cities that I might build, but rather just to see what they have up their sleeve that might make the CB genre (Simcity in particular) interesting in a multiplayer environment.

Yeah... Sorry... I know this is likely a long post based only on my opinion and what I've seen in this games genre over the past 14 or so years back since the days of the old Impressions city builder games like Pharaoh, Zeus and the multiplayer Emperor, rise of the middle Kingdom (2002 I believe) games and just about every other CB game since then. I think the ones that had a more militaristic approach to game play seem to have done better with regards to multiplayer since it pitted one player against the next and the primary focus was not as much city building / town management but rather military conquest against another player.

Obviously what I wrote above does not apply to every single CB / Town management game every produced, but from memory it seems to be more the rule than the exception.
