Closing due to WinRAR Archive

Postby Alex » Fri May 11, 2012 6:20 pm

Hai. I recently bought the game and this happens:

I'll play for a random amount of time after opening Towns.exe from the WinRAR archive, and it'll close, saying changes have been made to some of the files or something, and asks me whether I want to save them. How do I stop this happening?

This is caused because you haven't extracted the game client from the zip you downloaded (for standalone only versions). You must first extract the game to a folder (such as one in C:\Program files (Windows), or /Users/{Username}/Documents (Mac/Linux)). Then run the file from there.

You have to extract it you cannot play it from the archive.

Do I just extract it to my desktop?

I think i saw people had issues with it on there desktop so I suggest putting it in your documents folder (or program files as tom says which ever).

You can.. Make a folder named towns in you documents folder.. put the archive in there then hit extract here.. - Then each update you can put it in the same folder and delete the older versions if you want or keep them.. but at lest they will all be in one place. Thats what I did anyways. It's worked fine for me..

Might I ask if there is a benefit to that?

That way, you won't accidentally delete it, you know where it is, and there are no issues with temporary folders :)
