Mineshaft Troubles?

So I found a nice vein of iron, so I decided to put a mineshaft on it. A section of the vein was 2x2, the dimensions of the shaft, but I couldn't seem to place the building on the ore. It didn't even highlight my selection box. If anyone knows why this is happening, please respond.

Is the 2x2 vein next to a slope? Buildings(mineshaft, mill, animal farms) cannot be built next to slopes

Well it's underground, so I highly doubt it... Any other ideas?

Note:
My hitbox for the mineshaft highlights when I mouse over like 2 ores diagonal or a single ore, but I obviously can't place the shaft.

use a site like tiny pic(I've not used it myself) or photobucket then link it to here in img tags..

Just a thought but is there anything sitting on the iron tiles? If there is a piece of iron there you need to move it out of the way or delete it before you can place the mine.

Ah ok, it's because its on the very edge of the map. I would assume that means you cant build structures on the map's edge.
