Changing height level(q&a) resets order menu [SOLVED]

Changing height level(q&a) resets order menu [SOLVED]

If you enable an order type like mining(Cursor changing to a square and ready to select the area.) and then switch height with "q" or "a", you get bumped back to the "Orders" menu.
This is really annoying because it makes mining relative to something above or below very difficult.

Not an error. This is done on purpose.
When you move through levels orders are cancelled, you only can perform one order in one level at a time. This way we avoid nasty surprises ("oh my god! why these guys are mining the level of above??") and nasty orders (build walls on 2 levels at a time for example)

Must admit I prefer to not have them cancelled and to take the risk, a habit I've picked up from DF is to assign the order on the level above and then switch down, so I know where I am. Maybe you could make it a toggleable option?

Well, we will note this suggestion to think about for next releases.

Anyway, note that, unlike DF, Towns doesn't have hundreds of depth levels, so dig/mine a lot of levels down it has no sense.

I agree With Nettle on this one. If you are trying to give a mining order relative to water or a hole above, but it is nothing but black down there, you have no reference point for when you switch down.

Right now what I have to do is:
Switch down
Give single mining order(now I have a point of reference)
Switch up
Switch down
Give the correct mining order
Delete reference mining order

Rather then:
Ready mining order
Switch down
Give mining order

Along with the equipment system this is currently the thing that annoys me the most.

Yeah, like Omega I don't mean I want to dig out multiple levels at once, that's more trouble than it's worth, but I just tend to click the mine button while on the level above, get my mouse to the right place to dig, and then switch down with the wheel so I'm sure I'm in the right place. Currently it cancels when I switch down and I have to move the mouse away again to click it, and it's hard to remember exactly what square I was in.

As an aside, DF handles this as if you'd given the whole order on the level you finally end up on, so you can say "dig" click the start point and to your ending point on zlevel 1, and then switch to another level and press confirm, and it executes the whole order there, ignoring the fact you started on a different level entirely, making identical corridors or stairwells a lot easier to plan out.
