Attack Questions

Hey all,
Trying to figure out exactly how attack works with the game :)

A citizen has an attack value (by default) of 4d3+12, with a wooden long sword that has an attack value of 1d3. Does that mean that you basically take both values and add them together (so the roll would be a minimum of 17 with a max of 27) and compare it to the defense of what you are attacking (so a toady would have a defense of 4d3+3, min would be 7 and max 15), and if attack roll is higher than defensive roll you would have a hit and then do a roll for dmg using the same method?

attack value is chance to hit, not damage.

When it's computed though do you take the base of char: 4d3+12
then add the weapon to it as well (for wooden long sword): 1d3
So you would get a range of: 17 -> 27 for the attack.

Then you would get the defense (of say a toady): 4d3+3
You would get a range of: 7 -> 15

If attack is > defense roll dmg?

If that is correct, for dmg:
It would be just the dmg of the weapon, not the dmg of weapon + base dmg of char since the char base is just unarmed, correct?

Yes, correct, they are added together. both for attack and damage. the reasoning is that a strong character would swing his sword harder than a weak character, thus affecting the damage they inflict.

Let me put some numbers :P

if attack = defense -> you have a 50% chance to hit.
if attack > defense -> you have more than 50% chance to hit, up to 95%
if attack < defense -> you have less than 50% chance to hit. With a 5% minimum chance

If you "hit" then the damage is substracted from the victim health points.


About armors and weapons, the values are added to the base attributes.
