[Tutorial]Modding 101 - Prefix/Suffix

Postby JackPS9 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 11:56 pm

So in this tutorial we are touching on Prefixs, Suffixs, and on how combat works.
EDITTING!: prefixsuffix.xml
Prefix/Suffix share the same tags so there we be a list of them and what they do at the end.

Firstly Prefixs
Prefixs are item modifiers that add/change the stats of the items they exist on.
Prefixs go infront of the item's name.
the prefix tag is
Code: Select all
<prefix>
</prefix

All the changes that the prefix adds to the item will be between those tags.
As also with anything basicly for modding Towns name tags are required
Code: Select all
<name  esES=""></name>

Not going to explain that just read one of the other modding tutorials I have.

Now onto suffixs
Suffixs are added to the end of the item's name.
suffix tag
Code: Select all
<suffix>
</suffix>

Once again.....
As also with anything basicly for modding Towns name tags are required
Code: Select all
<name  esES=""></name>

Not going to explain that just read one of the other modding tutorials I have.

Now to listing the tags for these.
Code: Select all
<healthpoints></healthpoints>

Increase/Decrease the townies Health Points

Code: Select all
<LOS></LOS>

These lovely tags increase/decrease how far your townies can see.

Code: Select all
<movePCT></movePCT>

Still not fully sure around these tags.

Code: Select all
<attackTurns></attackTurns>

This is based out of 100 so if attackTurns is 10 then the townie will get 1 attack every 10 turns (Try not to make this go any higher then 5)
Base townie attackTurns is 5 = 1 every 20 turns
There are a total of 8 turns per second.

Code: Select all
<attack></attack>

1) This doesn't effect the damage
2) Effects the chance to hit the enemy.

Code: Select all
<defense></defense>

1) does not reduce damage taken
2) reduces the chance of being hit

Code: Select all
<damage></damage>

Yes this is how much the townie attacks for if the townie hits the enemy.

How combat works
In order for a townie to go after a enemy the enemy has to get within the townie's LOS(Line of Sight).

Attack == Defense = 50% chance to hit the enemy
Attack > Defense = 51-95% chance to hit the enemy
Attack < Defense = 5-49% chance to hit the enemy

If I can get the info on movePCT or more info on anything in this tutorial I'll add it to this tutorial

Edit: forgot to add the dice system
This is one of the system that is usable with numbers in Towns
zdx+y
z = number of dice
x = number of sides the dice have
y = solid number to add onto your dice roll
so 1d9+9 will have a outcome of 10-18
