Take existing code
Modify it
Get it fully working
Do it again.

Practice until you have an idea of what everything does.

Examples list:
Make Mud items and associated actions
Re-organize menu items
Create new menu items (for your mud items)
Play around with map generation a little bit

There is your homework for the next week.

Create your grapihic. It must be a 1024x1024 .png. individual graphics should be 32x64. Take a look at graphics.ini, and compare TILE_X and TILE_Y with this grid

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1407#p9135

Place your graphic in the correct position, and build your graphics.ini to match where your graphic is.

Then find TILESET_EXTRAS (something like that), add a ',' and then the name of your .png files (include the extension)

From memory, here is the rundown of files I have not worked on in a few weeks, and not since the 0.45 update, may be a little off in some places.

You can either make the graphic in any graphics program that supports transparency (photoshop, gimp, paint.net, and so on) or you can edit an existing graphic. I can give you some tips on how to do that if you like. :)
