OOC: Wow, I was worried I made the stats too complicated, but it seems that everyone understands things the same way so it's all good as far as I'm concerned.
Aduvash, I'm gonna open up the potionmaking list the same way I did the magic rules - you can make anything you can think of, using up to five ingredients (not including the bottle/container, but things like water do count. I'd expect that different potions require different bases, for example oils might need to be dissolved in alcohol while other things might work with water of the juicce of a particular plant as their base). Tell me which ingredients are being used and what effects they'll add to the potion (e.g. sugar for speed etc.). I'll run a standard magic test (five dice), and if you pass then the potion is made. If more than half the dice are sixes then the potion will be a strong potion or something like that, but if more than half the dice are ones and you fail then the potion will do the opposite of what you want - you may still be able to use this potion for something else, however (such as a failed potion of healing becoming a lethal poison).
Ok, here's the update:
The adventurers sit around the fireplace in the inn and agree to form a party to explore the dungeon together. Suddenly the door opens, and a Cleric walks in and sits down to eat. He eventually makes his way over to the group, and offers them a blessing, announcing that he will join their party as soon as he has finished his business at the chapel the next day. Cruzaeus takes the opportunity to sneak out while the cleric is talking, and walks around the town. Finding the door of the blacksmith's forge unlocked, he is unable to resist the temptaion and creeps inside. His joy is nearly unable to be quelched at finding a kris lying on the anvil, as well as a silvered dagger on the polishing stone. Cruzaeus pockets both weapons and sneaks out of the smithy, careful to lock the door behind him to add to the allure and mystery of the crime. He then sneaks back into his room via the window, entirely avoiding suspicion or detection.
Meanwhile, Earl attempts to brew a potion of swiftness in his room in the inn. He collects two measures of sugar, a small glass flask and several energising herbs and sets them ovr the fire to brew. He goes to sleep, and in the morning he awakes to find a well-made potion of average power and potency. He walks downstairs and hands this potion to Cruzaeus, who excahnges it for his vial of poison.
