I use the hatchet to sharpen the end of one of the straight sticks to make a crude spear. I strike stones near my tinder bundle with a dual purpose, find out which stones produce sparks (possibly starting a fire) and finding a piece of flint to flintknap into a spear head. If there's time left in the day, I creep around, watching for game to throw the spear at, suck water from the tree and eat some of the inner bark. Then I head back to the cave to create a hand drill.

As myself: I'm a bit of a survivalist, so I have to say "really, no bowdrill? The only more primitive ways are the hand drill, fire plough, and striking stones (flint and an iron mineral preferably)" :P No one eat the mushroom, it's 90% likely we die.

I tear a tiny corner off the mushroom, and cautiously nibble it to test for poison. I arrange my bed to be more comfortable so that I can recover quickly if the mushroom makes me feel sick, and continue working on my spear to make it as dangerous as possible. I then drive it into the stone to compact the wood on then end, making it denser and more durable. I then re-sharpen the point, and smooththe handle to prevent splinters. My final activity is to gaze up the mountain and try to determine how high it is, and whether it looks climbable or not.

OOC: sorry if I upset any survivalists by nibbling the mushroom, but I made sure to only test a teensy-tiny portion to be as safe as possible. At the worst, it might cause illness, but shouldn't be fatal (unless it's a deathcap or destroying angel, but they don't live in caves...) and we may really need the food later.

I know the spear bit sounds complicated, but it's actually really simple in real life; and used frequently by primitive humans to boot. The effect is the same as using a hammer and anvil to forge iron into steel - the molecules are arranged into stronger bonds, making the spear sharper and stronger; though it does take a long times. I may not be a survivalist, but I do know a lot about weapons...

You whittle the long branch into a simple spear which would be useful to kill a small animal. You also weigh the pros and cons of eating the mushroom, on one hand you could gain a food source that would be about equal to a handful of berries, on the other hand it has a large chance to kill you, Maybe it isn't the best idea to eat it... You then decide to bang two of your rocks together near the tinder and one of them produces sparks! Oooo... Shiny... After awhile of doing that you decide to check the height of the mountain, it towers high into the air, you couldn't even guess the height, but it looks climbable, at least for awhile up. You consider driving your spear into the stone... No! You worked hard on that spear! You aren't going to ruin it! You then wander out to the forest to look for some meat, you find a rabbit! What should you do?

Items:
1 Loincloth: Equipped
1 Basket: Alright
1 Hatchet: Poor
1 Wooden Spear: Normal

Health:
Hunger: Peckish
Thirst: A little thirsty
Drowsiness: Really tired
Wounds: None

House:
Bed: Thatch
Mushroom: Growing
1 Unit of Tinder
4 Stones: Rough
2 Units of Nuts: Round
3 Small Branches
1 Flint

Notes: You don't have string for a bow drill, vines won't cut it.
You are a primitive human not an insult; a forum game. [Currently dead] Note that this was the first forum game on the towns forum, I'm a trend setter. :D

I consider throwing the spear at the rabbit, but then I realise that there may be more nearby, and following it might reveal the location of a warren where I can set snares, potentially giving me far more food in the long run. I sit back in my cave to have a long hard think about which option is best. While mulling over the problem I also arrange my tinder into a small campfire, leaving the flint nearby so I can light it quickly when night comes, and set out quietly to collect a stock of firewood without disturbing the rabbit.

OOC: nibling the mushroom is not a "dick" move - eating it whole and dying would have been, but not testing it as a food source is just stupid. :x It's already been stated that if we do things cautiously then they have a lower chance of being dangerous, if we take a long time doing things carefully then they have a better chance of succeeding, if we run quickly then we cover more ground but have higher risk etc. Seriously, there's more than one way to skin a cat (or rabbit, as it hopefully turns out). This is a multi-player game, and as such everyone's opinions and moves should be equally valid. I personally don't want to use the flint for the spear for example, but if someone suggests that then I won't be posting they shouldn't have - because they have every right to.

I look outside the Cave for the following trees: Oak, Cedar, Willow and Walnut. I examine the lichen and fungus found on various trees and logs and I also look for game trails.

Inside the cave, I examine the mushroom for identifying traits.

OOC:
The two mushrooms I am looking for are the chicken mushroom on living trees (no lookalikes unless you're blind) and the oyster on dead logs (the correct one looks, smells and tastes like oysters). Both are common and easy to identify.

Nibbling isn't a dick move. I see the value of the mushroom as a potential food source, but at the same thing I know that ~92% of mushrooms are toxic enough to make you sick or are just inedible and 4% of them will kill you. That leaves a 4% chance to find one that is edible. Let's try to ID it first.
When I said "don't eat the mushroom" what I meant was don't "OM NOM MUSHROOM!" and get us killed. You should not ever eat any mushrooms unless you know what species it is, they're generally not worth even trying to test.
Only two lichen however are toxic and they have no lookalikes. I would rather take that chance.

I really need to stop trying to teach people things. It make me look condescending. It's not intended, I swear.

OOC:Well you cant simple nibble on a posions mushroom and be safe and i said it was kinda of a dick move. Also If you wanted to be safe you could of brought it out to the sunlight to get a better look at it and to clean it

After you look for some trees you decide to make sure every things in order and head of to bed and in the morning you'll try and make a simple snare
