Talk about Games!

Postby Aduvash » Sun Aug 05, 2012 6:39 pm

This thread is for people to talk about various games they like, if everyone likes a particular game then we can start a new thread for just that game rather then every game having a thread, I'll begin.

Recently I was watching someone's YouTube channel and they had a video of them beta testing a port from the Xbox called 'Awesomenauts' which is a 2D MOBA, not long afterward they finished it and it looked pretty fun so I bought it at full price (Which I don't do very often) with the soundtrack. My only complaint is that, like all multiplayer battle games, %75 of the time the players on the opposing side are a lot better then you and your team...

I'm a fond fan of the Stronghold saga. I even got an appointment with a friend to get his laptop to my house, and try at the same time the LAST levels of Stronghold crusader extreme in a week or so.

The first game was really good one, the first always deserves some praise.

Then we got Crusader, almost no new things, same graphics, same buildings, just the arabic mercenaries and some little things here and there, but the endless campaign was more combat-focused, more arcade-like with not so much history, just levels and levels and a hard difficulty. Also good multiplayer values.
All of this was expanded with Crusader warchest and Crusader extreme. Both really worth the time.

Then Stronghold 2 got out, which had really improved graphics, and a lot more detail to the "castle simulation" side of things. I find this game more enjoyable on the non-combat side of the game, there so much deep into it... combat has some points too, but when there's so much things you have to care in your castle, you can't focus on combat so much.

Stronghold Legends is a good twist to the series, being in a more fantasy-oriented setting, it is original and still has the old stronghold feel to it.

Can't wait to try Stronghold 3, even i've seen some people criticising it, I'm sure I'll find something good in there.

Stronghold is one of my favorite game series, maybe even my favorite... I think my brother bought 3 so I might try it out, I should also try and get legends.

I love me some LoZ: Skyward Sword. Currently working on the last boss fight, it's amazingly difficult >.<

I'm having a major  moment with Yogbox right now - I had kinda got over Minecraft but while looking for info on 1.3 I read some good things about the Technic Pack, and the Yogbox just caught my attention and wouldn't let go.

Thaumcraft Laboratory for the win :D

Ive got the same situation as Yetichow! Minecraft started to bore me and everytime you did the same "chopping wood, find coal, find iron and so on and so on" and im really bad with computers so installing mods wasnt an option! But then i saw the technik launcher what is a very very smart program cause its downloads an additional minecraft and just puts the modpacks right in! With just a few clicks i had a whole new game! Im played yogbox a lot but now im doing some tekkit and im totally into minecraft again xD

MINECRAFT EVERYONE :D

I liked the stronghold sega too but ive got only stronghold crusader now on my new laptop, but thats a nice game too!

I started out with technic SSP, but there was too mcuh content and it was a few updates ago so it didn't really mesh well. I moved to Tekkit, but then I lost the technic launcher when I upgraded computers and I did't download it again for a while. I like the new upgrades a lot; I'm playing yogbox only because I love the combo of Thaumcraft and Millenaire. I might switch back to Technic SSP though so I can do a fully automated thaumcraft lab and unlock everything in thaumcraft.

Does anyone know how to get multiplayer Technic/Yogbox working? I've heard about Tekkit servers but I'd really love to play on a Yogbox server :P

Yes technik smp is very complicated and i dont like the tekkit + millenaire comb, but then i watched the "lets play" videos of duncan from the yogscast (im sure you know them) of tekkit and i started my on world, ive got a huge factory now making nukes and launching them very far all automatticly! Yes the combo is nice but thaumcraft is a real pain in the arse without the crystalline bell discovery, millenaire can be annoying if the village ask for the third time for 800 dried mud blocks, but i played it a lot last year :D.

Ps: i dont think thaumcraft and technik work together
Pps: as far as i know is yogbox only single player because of the huge lag spikes in multiplayer but maybe they fixed that?

From what I understand from what you two are saying; I think you're confused. (Or maybe I am)

To clarify; tekkit is multiplayer technic, they do that by removing some mods that are only for singleplayer and also adding some stuff for compatibility, you cannot run multiplayer technic, but you might be able to run singleplayer tekkit, if you wanted to for some reason. I have a little tekkit server between me and a friend, but it isn't running atm. Also, millenaire does not work in multiplayer so yogbox is singleplayer only.

Haha no you are not confused! Or maybe a little bit xD

Ill try to explain:

The yogbox is just an adventure modpack for singleplayer only cause of the millenaire mod and thaumcraft (mod based on some sort of magic), those mods dont or hardly work on multiplayer.

Technik pack is a singleplayer modpack based on industrial & builtcraft (so the same as tekkit) but have some singleplayer-only mods in it like millenaire (again xD)

Tekkit is a singleplayer AND multiplayer modpack what is totally based on industrial craft and builtcraft, no other gamechanging mod! Only some that will help the player (like minimap and craftingguide).

The techniklauncher is a program which you can run all those mods on (yogbox, technik and tekkit, not at the same time of course) without messing up your own vanilla minecraft.

I think thats it? Haha do you follow it so far?
